Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Thursday May 7, 2015 Daily Devotional -
Our today's Topic: A True Friend.
Psalm 119:105 says;
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
I have come to realise that the only solution to the inability of men to read the Bible is, seeing it as your “best friend”. A friend you always want to talk to, share opinions with and just spend quality time with. Just the way you relate with your friends and family, you can also relate with the Bible, and even
more. You can take it as a companion, the One you love to run to when you feel alone, confused
or in dire need of help.
Oh how I love God’s Word! It answers every question of life. The Bible is the most relevant book in the world, because it has a solution to every issue posed in any other book. It hits the nail on the head without condemnation. It does not only correct, it also directs and grants understanding to the even seemingly impossible situations. When you understand this, reading the Word would become a delight, and gaining access to Rhema from the Word would be much easier.
How many times do you run to someone from advice without asking God through His Word what
he feels about the situation? Even when you do get counsel from others, have you ever thought to check if it is in line with the Word? Your ability to
diligently do this saves you from running around in circles and/or taking wrong steps.
So, just as you fall in love with any other thing of interest to you, fall and stay in love with your Bible.
Cleave to it like a companion you cannot do without, and let it be expressed by the way you read and meditate on it. Remember, the value you place on the Word, determines how much you get from it. From today, begin to draw richly as you make your Bible you greatest companion!
